- 1 reason why the Spanish Armada happened was because England was reading French’s ships, under the command of Sir Francais Drake
- As well as that, King Philip wanted revenge as Elizabeth didn’t marry him
- AFTER THEM!
- Because of this Philip sent out ships but drake burnt the ships before the invasion even happened
- I am a amazing queen!
- so, 1 year later -1588- Philip invaded but bad weather in the English Channel meaning some ships were destroyed.
- on July 27th , the Spanish dropped anchor in Calais to pick up more troops but were attacked
- In the end, only 67/130 ships survived. The Spanish Armada was a failure leaving queen elizabeth to be known as a amazing queen
