- Why should I help them? I won't benefit at all!
- I wonder if I could do that and get attention...
- There was once a man called John who was at a sports game. He sees someone get a drink spilled on them, but doesn't help them.
- He then sees someone go to help the person, and gets lots of praise from everyone around. He decides to try it out next time he can to hopefully gain the same attention.
- I saw you back there. I noticed the good deed you did; it was not legitimate.
- You were not humble; the Bible tells us to be humble when we give. Do that and you are being true and good.
- Oh, really? How am I supposed to help people then?
- I will work on it... thank you!
- As he leaves, he sees a young, homeless man. He is begging people for food, but no one gives any to him. He sees lots of people around and decides to help him. He remembers that he has money in his pocket, and decides to give it to him.
- He gives the money to the man, and the man dearly thanks him. All of the people around cheer him on, and he feels very happy. He keeps on his way, until he bumps into a man.
- He sees a man who is not impressed with him. He walks over, wondering what is troubling him. The man informs John on the proper way to give to the needy.
- John leaves, and thinks about what he was told. He realises that he had been a very bad person; he was trying to get attention from him helping, not doing it for real. As he gets home, he sees his neighbor having trouble with groceries. He finally realises the true way to help others.
