- This scene is significant because the bloody dagger is made up by his mind, showing he may be going insane or his subconscious is telling him not to kill. The bloody dagger is used to kill Duncan and the guards, as Macbeth didnt listen to this warning.
- Are you a product of my imagination? I can not touch you, yet you are there.
- This scene demonstrates Macbeth's regret and fear about what he did, and how Lady Macbeth plays a big role in it all, and she is the one who planned it. This leads to Macbeth becoming king. It also causes Macduff to become a bigger part of the play since he is the one who discovered that King Duncan had died.
- I killed King Duncan but I can not go back to frame the guards
- Fine you weak little man, I will go frame them, go clean yourself up
- Malcolm and Donalbain fleeing the murder scene is significant because it makes it appear as if they killed their father. This shifts suspicion away from Macbeth and Lady Macbeth allowing them to get away with the murder, mostly. Banquo suspects Macbeth killed King Duncan, and since everyone else thought he didnt, Macbeth got Banquo killed. If everyone suspected Macbeth he most likely would not have the power to make others kill for him.
- We must run away to avoid trouble. I will go to Ireland, and you should go somewhere else
- I must go to England, then we can both be safe, I do not want to get arrested
