  • In the summer of 1922, Nick had just arrived in New York, where he moved to work in the bond business, and rented a house on a part of Long Island called West Egg. West Egg is home to the “new money,” and East Egg is home to the “old money”.
  • Chapter 8
  • I will never leave Daisy, don't worry about me, old sport
  • You have to leave, Gatsby
  • After Gatsby’s death, Nick decides to hold Gatsby a grand funeral since he feels like Gatsby wouldn’t want to go through a funeral alone, but all of Gatsby’s former friends and acquaintances have disappeared. The only people to attend the funeral are Nick, Owl Eyes, a few servants, and Gatsby’s father.
  • CONFLICT
  • George arrives at Gatsby’s house, where he finds him swimming in his pool. Wilson shoots Gatsby instantly, then shoots himself after. Nick hurries back to West Egg and finds Gatsby floating dead in his pool.
  • CLIMAX
  • After the traumatic events, Nick decides to pay a visit to Gatsby at his mansion. Gatsby reveals that he waited for Daisy until four o'clock in the morning, but nothing happened. Upon hearing this, Nick advises Gatsby to forget about Daisy and move away from Long Island. However, Gatsby firmly refuses to leave Daisy behind.
  • Nick struggles to retell the events of his life involving a man he admired named Gatsby.​
  • Daisy attempts to leave Tom for Gatsby. However, while Daisy drives home from the city, she runs over Myrtle, Tom's mistress. ​
