  • Life before socialism was difficult for all people before the 17th century. Workers weren’t paid equally which was leading more people into poverty
  • Workers Protesting
  • Poor labourers were frequently housed in tight, harsh circumstances. They were exposed to a variety of risks and perils, including cramped work quarters with limited ventilation, job-related accidents, and diseases.
  • Life After Socialism
  • In factories, coal mines and other workplaces, people worked long hours in miserable conditions. Once factories were built, most men no longer worked at home. Industrial workers were paid very small amounts and struggled to survive.
  • Primary Source
  • As machinery replaced manual labour, people found themselves in hardship and this led to plots. The motivation for many plots was quite simply hunger.
  • Since the government controls virtually all of society's activities, it can make better use of resources, labours, and lands. It reduces income disparities across all socioeconomic ranks and classes, not only in different places.
  • This photograph depicts the protests that took place during the Industrial Revolution in response to various social concerns that affected society. Workers are shown striking against poor salaries and inequality. Demanding a better standard of life and a fair wage.
