  • If Paul Auster is as good a detective as the stillmans think, he may be able to help with the case.
  • Quinn meets Paul Auster, but he is not who he expected

  • The envy of seeing someone else live they life they should have had.

  • Daniel, this is Daniel, and Daniel, this is Daniel
  • With a cold trail and no leads to follow, Quinn decides to get in contact with Paul Auster, the detective he had been impersonating this whole time. Quinns thinks that if he explains the situation, the real Paul Auster will understand, forgive him, and help him with the case. Surprisingly, he can't find Auster in any detective agency, but he does find him in the phone book, and decides to visit his apartment.
  • Quinn goes to Auster's apartment and they meet. However, it turns out that Paul Auster is not a detective, but a writer; this raises new questions that Quinn was not expecting. Paul Auster recognizes Quinn as a writer he used to enjoy, and they both bond a little over their work. Quinn explains everything to Auster and feels relieved when he reacts supportively, he also agrees to cash the payment check for him.
  • After staying for some time and having meal with Auster, his family arrives. Although acting friendly and making a good impression, Quinn can't help feeling like Auster is taunting him with the things he had lost. Auster lives the life that Quinn should have had, Being uncomfortable with his hidden feelings, he politely refuses to stay for dinner. Quinn is given a warm goodbye as he hands back Daniel's yoyo.
