  • ROCK CYCLE
  • 3 different types of rocks (igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks) are about to present their rock history.
  • Good morning class. Today we are going to be sharing our presentations on how we were made.
  • Igneous rock (Granite) presenting their rock history.
  • Hello everyone, my name is Granite and I am an igneous rock. I am made from magma, a really hot molten rock that turns into me when it hardens. Another thing about igneous rocks like me, Obsidian, Kimberlite and Basalt is that we dont have fossils, we either look shiny or coarse, we usually have more than one colour on us and can be found in central B.C . All done!
  • That was great Granite! Thank you for sharing.
  • Sedimentary rock (Sandstone) presenting how they became the rock they are today.
  • I am Sandstone, a sedimentary rock. Othersedimentary rocks, like Chalk, Limestone, Shale and I, are formed from sand and other rocks that have been broken down from mountains by weathering. These weathered rocks then are moved around and compacted into new rocks. These new rocks usually have layers, different colours, sometimes fossils of plants/animals and can be found in south-eastern Quebec .
  • Again, amazing work and if you didn't know class, I am also a sedimentary rock.
  • Marble presenting about metamorphic rocks.
  • Hey guys, I am Marble, a metamorphic rock. I am actually made from otherigneous, sedimentary and/or early metamorphic rock that had been compressed with heat under the earth's surface. A lot of my other metamorphic rock buddies like Slate, Jadeite and Gneiss to name a few, look shiny, have texture and sometimes layers. They can also be found in B.C.
  • Last but never least we have Marble.
  • Discussing why learning about the rock cycle is important.
  • Before we end class Mrs. Limestone can you tell us why it is important to know about the rock cycle please?
  • It is important to know about the rock cycle because without it anything alive would cease to exist. On that happy note, time for recess!
