- Before we start the lesson lets look at some key meanings Political party- A political party is a group of people who work to be in charge of a government Government- A group of people who make rules, that the people must follow. Laws- A set of rules that society must followElection- a process in which people vote for the person they want to be their leader Seats- The building in which the government practices their authority
- Canada's Five Main Parties
- Canada has five main parties they are Liberal, Conservative, New democratic party, Green party, and Bloc Quebecois
- Majority Government
- In Canada most elections end in a majority government
- A Majority government is when a political party wins half of the available seats in Parliament
- A majority government can easily win most votes
- Minority Government
- A minority government is when an election ends and NO party has more then half of the votes
- They require to work together with other parties.
