  • I think not of them
  • In his dream, Banquo is reminded of the three witches and the three prophesies that appeared to be coming true. All of a sudden, Macbeth loses faith in these witches. Shakespeare describes him as having a very twisted personality since he makes rapid swings while also worrying about the witches and lying to Banquo.

  • Is this a dagger which I see before me, The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee
  • In his mind, Macbeth sees a bleeding dagger that appeared out of nowhere. It has been determined that Duncan will pass away soon.
  • Glisser: 3
  • That which hath made them drunk,hath made me bold What hath quenched them, hath given me fire.
  • Shakespeare has characterized Lady Macbeth as evil and powerful. It seems like now she is becoming a leader as first she was just known as his wife, but now the evilness is taking over and she is shown as very manipulative of others.

  • Why did you bring the daggers from the place? Give me the daggers! I'll accomplish what you hide from!
  • I am afraid to think what I have done.
  • Macbeth can't overcome the fact that he killed Duncan. Lady Macbeth is mad at Macbeth because he got the murder weapon back. Lady Macbeth again shows bravery as she goes with the daggers to smear blood on the guards.

  • Go get some water and wash this filthy witness from your hand!
  • Will all great Neptune's ocean wash this blood clean from my hand? No.
  • Macbeth is already starting to feel guilty after committing a sin. He is sorry for killing King Duncan. Shakespeare characterize Lady Macbeth showing no guilt at all after his husband committing a crime.

  • Let's flee to different sides of the world. It is safe no more
  • Our Royal Master has been murdered! Awake one, Awake all. There is a murderer loose
  • Macduff enters the scene, he finds out that King Duncan has been murdered and the murder is on the loose, therefore he takes care of everyone and tell them to leave to a safer place. Shakespeare characterizes Macduff as hero in this scene as he takes care of the King's sons.
