  • As Olaudah was taken from his homeland and family, he was forced to travel to several odd places. As he neared the slave ship, he is first filled with astonishment. Though as he stepped on board, he had finally realized the horrors of the white people.

  • Though Olaudah was mostly allowed to stay on deck, he still disliked the slave life. He would be aboard the same ship on the journey known as, The Middle Passage. This trip was to transport the slaves to America.
  • The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano 
  • In 1762, Equiano was sold to Quaker Merchant Robert King, who had trained him to do business. 4 years later, after being a slave for 21 years, Olaudah had finally bought back his freedom, returning to London.
  • As Olaudah returned to London, he had gotten involved in antislavery assembly's, also later converting from Catholic, to Christianity.
  • In 1789, Olaudah Equiano self wrote, and published his own book. It told of the cruelty of the slave trade, and slavery all together. Even after he had died in 1797, he was made a public figure towards the abolish of the slave trade in 1807.
