  • Walking slowly out of the vicious rain and onto the the front step of the colossal door Kayla sighed with relief as she was away from the thunderous screams of her parents fighting.
  • Kayla looked down at her old sagging pants and plain shirt and then looked over to the outfits behind her. They had been freshly ironed and fit them perfectly.
  • As she walked into the lunch room, Kayla laid her eyes on the last remaining table. She replayed her parents fight in her head and sighed.
  • Kayla strolled across the path slowly, hoping not to come home in the middle of a fight and imagined what it would be like to have someone to talk to.

  • As she lied in bed, Kayla listened to the booming noises of her parents arguing. Cold tears rolled down her cheeks whilst she stared out the large window.
  • As she wandered down the wide halls of her school, Kayla thought about sneaking out that night so she wouldn't have to listen to her parents continuous screams.
  • When stepping down the ladder, Kayla realised she had never felt this free before.
  • A smile grew on Kayla's as she realised she had someone she could relate to. The two talked until the the moon was far past the sun.
  • Each step she took along the extensive alined road she felt one step closer to feeling happy and alive.
  • As she looked across the road Kayla saw Lily the girl who had only recently been laughing with her friend in class with on the park bench with tears flowing down her face.
  • With tear streaks still on her face but with a smile arising, Lily explained to Kayla that her parents had filed for a divorce.
  • Kayla walked home cheerfully not worried about what her parents would say but excited about having gained a new a friend.
