Texte du Storyboard

  • Johnny is riding is bike on a beautiful summer day when suddenly a car comes out of nowhere!
  • As johnny sees the car coming, sensory neurons activate the sympathetic nervous system, which steps in to help increase his body's energy levels, preparing for the incoming threat.
  • As a further result of the sympathetic nervous system, his pupils may start to dilate, his stomach stops digestion and may inhibit vomiting, glucose is released by the liver, and the bladder starts to relax. As mentioned before, the endocrine system will start to release adrenaline and noradrenaline through the adrenal glands of the kidney.
  • Immediately, sensory neurons send visual signals to the brain triggering the Autonomic Nervous System. Johnny's hand are jerked forward to brace for the incoming impact. After the crash, the sympathetic nervous system increases his heartbeat and blood pressure. The endocrine system also kicks into gear by releasing adrenaline and noradrenaline as a result.
  • Thankfully, Johnny was okay, but broke his arm and required medical attention
  • Afterward, the sympathetic nervous system backs down as the parasympathetic system comes in to conserve body energy and calm the body. All normal body functions return, as pupils contract, heartbeat slows, digestion is triggered, the gallbladder is stimulated, and the bladder is contracted. The pituitary gland also helps release anti-stress hormones such as oxytocin to help calm the body.
