  • ¨If you can command these elements to silence and work the peace of the present, we will not hand a rope more¨ (Act 1, scene 1, line 19).
  • There is a big storm, called the Tempest, and the Boatswain is arguing with the king, Alonso, and his other people about how they need to stay below deck, but they are refusing.
  • ¨Keep your cabins. You do assist the storm¨ (Act 1, scene 1, line 12).
  • Prospero was banished by his brother, and he caused the Tempest to make sure everyone felt what it was like to be alone. After the boat crashed, Prospero made sure Ferdinand, King Alonso´s son, ended up on his island, and his daughter, Miranda, and Ferdinand fall in love at first sight. Prospero is testing Ferdinand by hurting him with his magic to make sure Ferdinand truly loves Miranda.
  • ¨Come on, obey!¨(Act 1, scene 2, line 482).
  • ¨Might I but through my prison once a day behold this maid...Let liberty ake use of space enough have I such a prison¨ (Act 1, scene 2, line 488).
  • Prospero sends Ariel, his spirit servant, to put King Alonso, Gonzalo, and the others to sleep after they have come onto an island. Sebastian and Antonio are the only ones awake, so they plot to kill Alonso so that Sebastian can take the throne and Antonio will be his right hand man.
  • ¨My strong imagination sees a crown...Dropping upon thy head¨ (Act 2, scene 1, line 200).
  • Trinculo and Stephano run into each other, after thinking they were all alone in surviving the Tempest. Prospero's slave, Caliban begs Stephano to take him as his servant because he despises Prospero and the things he makes him do.
  • ¨I´ll kiss thy foot. I´ll swear myself thy subject¨ (Act 2, scene 2, line 135).
  • Miranda is upset seeing Ferdinand be a servant, and she proposes to him because of how much she loves him, and he accepts. Prospero secretly watches in the distance and approves of the marriage.
  • Fair encounter of two most rare affections¨ (Act 3, scene 1, line 74).
  • ¨I am your wife if you will marry me. If not, I´ll die your maid¨ (Act 3, scene 1, line 83).
  • ¨My mistress, dearest, and thus I humble ever¨ (Act 3, scene 1, line 87).
  • After Caliban, Stephano and Trinculo have all been drinking together, Caliban gets an idea to kill Propsero. They plan to take all of his magic books away and kill him when he is sleeping, but they don´t know that Ariel is secretly listening to their plan.
  • ¨There thou mayst brain him, having first seized his books; or with a log batter his skull¨ (Act 3, scene 2, line 81).
  • ¨Monster, I will kill this man. His daughter and I will be king and queen...and Trinculo and thyself shall be viceroys¨ (Act 3, scene 2, line 99).
