- This story is about a woman named Della and her husband named Jimmy.They lived in a flat. It was $8 a week to live there. Della has been dreaming for a week about what to get Jimmy for Christmas. She only had one day because it was Christmas Eve.
- Climax
- Della did not have enough money to buy Jimmy a gift. Della had only $1.87 cents.
- Falling Action
- Della had an idea. She went to the barber shop and asked how much she could get for her hair. She got $20 dollars for her hair.She ended up with a total of $21.87 cents. She was ransacking the stores in the town. She finally found the right gift. It was a platinum fob chain simple and chaste in design.
- Resolution
- Della went back to the flat where Jimmy was waiting on her. They exchanged gifts. Jimmy had sold his watch to buy combs for Della. Della had cut off her hair for money to buy Jimmy a fob chain.
- Della and Jimmy decided to put the gifts away. because Christmas was not about gifts, it was about love.
- Della and Jimmy realized Christmas was not about gifts, it was about love, wealth, and sacrifice.
