Texte du Storyboard

  • I traveled a great distance to Virginia to see my mother once again. About five years had passed since I last saw her.
  • Oh Georgie! I'm so glad you made it.
  • Mom!
  • Follow me to the kitchen. You must be starving.
  • We never got along very well. But yet she seemed different...
  • Growing up my mom had a difficult life. Her parent's died at a young age, and after starting a life with my father and having me... my dad died.
  • Can I get you anything?
  • I was too young to understand the situation but it turned her into an absolute wreck.
  • No that's alright mom... can we maybe go talk in the living room?
  • She was an abusive mother and it was extremely hard for me. So as soon as I could leave I did. She always was hard on me.
  • ...So naturally I was confused being asked to come and visit her and being greeted so nicely...
  • Mom why did you ask me to come here?
  • Listen Georgie, I know I was a terrible mother. And I know I failed you completely, but after you left I began to change. I've regreted everything I've done every single day since you left.
  • Mom I'm sorry but it's a little late for this. You could've reached out anytime in the past 5 years but instead you waited 5 years...
  • There are parts of my life that are permantely damaged because of you. I can't forgive you.
  • My visit had started off weirdly and quickly, but it was all gonna end very soon.
  • I'm so so sorry Georgie. I just needed you to know that I've changed and I'm really trying.
  • I said what needed to be said. Something that I have wanted to say for years.
  • Wait! Where are you going?
  • Georgie!
  • And without a word more, my visit was over.
  • And just like that it was over. I walked my way all the way to the airport bought a plane ticket back to New York and I flew back home.
  • And that brings us to now. Me writing about my confrontation of my childhood after 5 years after leaving home.
  • I will make sure that I never have the same impact my mom left on me to my kids.
  • I'll make sure I give them a better life then I was given, I'll teach them lessons that I wasn't tought.
  • And in the end I hope I give them something more than what I had.
  • THE END.
