  • Advances in shipbuilding allow ships to travel longer distances
  • 12th to 13th Century
  • Great! These new triangular sails will make the ship capable of going at half winds! This will help the trip get shorter, which is what I want.
  • The captain seems to be overly excited about the stern rudder, some sort of chinese thing that will allow us to easily change the direction of our ship!
  • Wow, they say that this brand new ship called the caravel is highly maneuverable and can hold a lot of cargo and crew! Splendid!

  • Nice! Thanks to this astrolabe I calculated where we are in this gargantuan ocean!
  • Imagine life without the compass, the device that lets us know in which direction we're heading.

  • This brand new magnet allows me and the whole ship to know in which direction we are heading!
