- The four steps of stratification are weathering, erosion, deposition, and compaction. So, let's start with this rock, here is getting broken down into small pieces, and creating new sets of rocks. This is what we called WEATHERING.

- EROSION can happen with water and other agents, that can bring rock to different places. Foe example this river maybe carrying away the pieces or rock from the mountain.

- We are almost finished, the third one is DEPOSTION it is when the rock get dropped off and remain in the bottom of the sea undisturbed.

- And lastly is COMPACTION. sediments begin to stick together, cementing themselves with clay, minerals, and fossils, and gluing them to create a sedimentary rock layer.
