- Aotearoa, a land where fairy people live. Patu paiarehe, the people who lived on that land
- The people didn't got along very well so to avoid trouble, the groups didn't live together
- On a moonless night, the younger members of the two iwi would often play a game. At the darkest night sky, they would sneak out and race silently over to the other iwi area. They will take a token to prove they have been there.
- One night Hui came empty handed. So the other boys made fun of him and teased him. The following night the run was done again but this time Hui didn't return to his iwi with his friends and his friend blamed it on each other for not taking better care of Hui.
- When Waitakere found his son to be missing he summoned a great war party. Just as they were about the war chant. Hui and a young beautiful women came running and Hui said this is my love, my token.
- Soon Hunua Patupaiarehe got to know that there daughter is with Waitakere. There was a war and after the war Hui and Patupairehe left and they long past into the underworld.
