- The American Revolution also referred to as the U.S. War of Independence was the insurrection fought between 1775 and 1783 through which 13 of Great Britain's North American colonies threw off British rule to establish the sovereign United States of America, founded with the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
- The Second Continental Congress
- The First Continental Congress was a meeting held on September 1774 by a group of important men to discuss the crisis of the colonies.
- The Treaty of Paris
- The morning of the 19th, the "Shot Heard Round the World." The colonial militia, a band of 500 men, were outnumbered and initially forced to retreat. Lexington, Massachusetts the first shots were fired just after dawn which led to the creation of the USA.
- A New Constitution
- The Second Continental Congress voted to declare independence from Britain Thomas Jefferson who was the main author of the Declaration of Independence; the document reflected the enlightenment ideas of John Locke that if the government fails, people have a right to overthrow them, The declaration of Independence was then adopted on July 4, 1776.
- The Treaty of Paris not only recognized American independence but also ended the Revolutionary War between Great Britain and the United States, and established borders for the new nation.
- The Constitution of the United States established America's national government and fundamental laws and guaranteed certain basic rights for its citizens. It was signed on September 17, 1787, by delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.
