  • But he did not create the first telescope and it was actually created by Zacharias Janssen in the netherlands around the 1590s.
  • Why the word "cells"?
  • Hooke in england 1665 was looking at a cork cap and said he saw that they looked like prison cells. So he called them cells.
  • He basically started the cell theory because he was first to discover them.
  • Plants do have cells. Matthias discovered this in 1838 germany. He kind of found it out on accident. He would already look at plants under a microscope and one day he realized that all of them have cells.
  • Do animals have cells?
  • Both figuring out that cells is the basic building block of all matter.
  • Animals do have cells. Theodor discovered this in 1839 germany when he was looking at animal slides. He also said that cells came from pre existing cells.

  • Rudolph in 1838 germany actually stopped an argument with two other scientist when he had evidence that cells come from preexisting cells.
  • One last question. Where do cells come from?
  • Making the last part of the cell theory.
