Evidence 1: When the group intended that Goodman was working with the monsters because his car turned on out of nowhere.
Theme: Mankind is its worst enemy
Evidence 2: Everyone accused each other of working with the monsters,
YOUR THE MONSTER
Evidence 3: Charlie Thinks that Pete is a monster coming down the street and shoots him.
One of the main themes of "the monsters are due on maple street" by rod sterling is "Mankind is its worst enemy". There are many examples of this theme here are a couple when the group blames or intends that people are working with the monsters or are the monsters. The first example is when Charlie tried to start his car and it didn't start, but when he walked a way it started. Another example is when the group blamed each other for cars starting, lights turning on, or any type of power of anything. The last example is when Charlie shot Pete because he was pictured as a dark figure and Charlie thought he was alien. He shot him because he was scared that he was going to harm him. This supports the theme because the examples show how if people are scared or want to seem innocent they blame each other, and make them selves enemy's of each other.
