  • In May 1945, Germany surrendered. During the battle in Berlin the Germans were dropping in numbers and losing badly. When Hitler realized the soviet were closing in on him he killed himself. After, Hitler killed himself the Germans realized that they were now severely outnumbered. This resulted in the Germans being surrounded on all sides and having no other options then to surrender or die.
  • During World War ll The Soviet Union and The United states came together. Many would assume this was because they were friends. In reality The Soviet Union and The United States were neither friendly or enemies. They both realized that if they wanted the right outcome to this war they needed each other. Working together made them a force to be reckoned with.
  • The Manhattan project was the code name for the operation of designing an atomic weapon. America wanted to set an example. In using an atomic bomb or atomic weapon this prevented loss of American lives. America thought it would be a good way to set an example and preserve life.
  • When The Manhattan Project was successful America decided it was time to strike. They did a test run to make sure it would actually work. They loaded the first atomic bomb onto a plane.  When the bomb dropped an entire city was leveled in seconds. Thousands of people died that day most of which were innocent citizens. Even though they had already dropped one bomb the U.S. did not stop there.
  • Three days after the atomic bomb dropped at Hiroshima there was another bombing. This bombing was even bigger than the last. This bomb was so big they named it "Big Man".  This bomb leveled the city killing thousands of people and this was the last straw and helped push Japan to give up.
  • Japan gave up shortly after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Japan was already stretched really thin and being pushed to the limits. They were running short on supplies and had already lost a great chunk of their population do to the war. When the Nagasaki and Hiroshima were hit with the atomic bombs, they lost even more people. After losing that many people and seeing the soviet join in they made the decision to give up.
