  • One Fateful Day
  • By: Daniel Barrera
  • Wait till the General sees these sweet pics
  • I didn't wake up this early for them not to be Robert, come on now. We should make some sort of article showing why we should fight.
  • These pictures are going to come out great Daniel! We'll be able to send them to the newspaper to show the nation that the army ain't all that bad right now
  • YEAA. When we get back to the airfield, we'll ask the boys what they think. Maybe we can convince everyone to fight and not sit around while Hitler takes over Europe. Before it gets here.
  • The early bird gets the worm as I always say
  • WHOOSH
  • It's probably just the navy on practice maneuvers blowing up some old ships. Don't get all worried.
  • That's not us.
  • Help! We're under attack!
  • US NAVY
  • We should've known this war was going to make it's way here
  • Let's go, let's go. It's the Nazi's! We gotta pedal our feet off till we get to Hickam and we can see what we can do to help.
  • That is us! Those are our men!
  • ZOOM
  • We are definitely declaring war now
  • ZOOM
  • I hope we're not too late!
  • Did you hear those bullets whistle past us?!?
  • I'm not DEAF!
  • Daniel, get on the machine gun. Robert, get a pistol from the armory! Hurry!
  • YES SIR!
  • On your six Daniel... wait! Watch out!
  • I'm going to get you out of here. Let's get you to a hospital.
  • I wish you a speedy recovery my friend. I'm going to head back to the base to survey the damage and see what's worth recovering.
  • I found out that it was the Japanese that bombed us. We have to fight this war now. We are in this war whether we want to fight or not.
  • This monstrosity... the pools of blood, my buddies' blood....
  • Two days later
  • "After having put my best uniforms in a barracks bag plus my diary and my Bible that you gave me, I left the once most beautiful barracks. I didn’t expect to live through the raid while it was going on and one strange thing that I was angry at myself for was that I had not taken out any Government Insurance that you would have been, it seemed to me, cheated out of my $10,000 of life insurance.”
  • What matters is that you are alive and have a fighting chance to avenge your friend, may he rest in peace, and all your fellow brothers in arms
