- Hi I'm Eurylochus. I will explain why Odysseus was not a hero in The Odyssey. Because of him, it lead to the downfall of many of our men.
- My definition of a hero is someone who has patience, skill, and is kind.
- When Odysseus got us out of the cyclops cave, we boarded our ships and left. Odysseus was too prideful and gave away his name to the cyclops. This doesn't make Odysseus a hero because of his pride. If he hadn't given away his name, then we would of made it home with all of our men.
- When we had to stay on Circe's island, Odysseus made us stay for a long time. He was not a hero because he was not being loyal to our home. We eventually left the island because of our men feeling homesick. Odysseus not being loyal to our home shows that he is not a hero.
- When we went to Scylla and Charybdis, Odysseus started putting on his armor and ignored Circe's advice to not fight the monster. Our men began to suspect something and eventually lost trust in Odysseus. This shows that Odysseus is not a hero because he did not take advice from anyone to not fight the monster and lost trust from all his men. That is not a good quality for a hero.
- Although Odysseus did manage to save our men in Polythemus' cave and ended up reuniting with his wife and son, Odysseus still lost all his men in the end, and made decisions that did not make him a hero.
