  • Enlightenment philosophies had an impact on starting the revolution because they had ideas on government and rights that people should have. The people living in France probably felt as though they should get these rights and a new government. They were starving and cold, and there taxes were being spent and king Louis XVI was not doing anything. In the end however the National Assembly adopted the natural rights of man, and after the Women's march to Versailles Louis XVI accepted the national Assemblys decrees.
  • Women's march to Versailles
  • Accept the Decrees our children are starving!
  • Louis XVI called a meeting at Versailles. The three estates went. The third estate said that they wanted to set up a constitutional government that would make clergy and nobility pay taxes. However the third found that they could be outvoted very easily. They suggested the idea of having the deputy's all vote. Louis however did not like that, and said that he liked the current system better. The third estate then declared that they would make a constitution. When the time came to make it, the doors were locked. They then went to the indoor tennis court where they made an oath to keep meeting there until they had a new government.
  • When Louis XVI is prepared to use force against the Third Estate, the Parisians gather at the Bastille. About 900 stormed the Bastille, and after four hours the prison warden surrendered. They then killed the warden and tore the Bastille apart brick by brick.
  • After Louis XVI refused to accept the National Assembly's Decrees women marched into the Versailles. They were armed with pitchforks, pistols, broomsticks and other weapons. They told Louis that there children were starving. They then got him to agree to the new decrees.
  • Okay okay, I will
