- Chris! Do you remember what we were talking about yesterday? I can share with you some ideas we discussed in our UCSP class.
- Is it regarding the different aspects of society and their significant changes or transformation happening in our present way of living? Am I right?
- My teacher said that as changes in different aspects of society happen, we adapt to this, and our living is affected.
- So, our culture is connected to it. If the social change happens, there will also be cultural change which is the alterations to the elements of culture.
- You got the point, Chris! The changes in our society are what we call social change. It is variations or modifications in the social patterns. It may be because of changes in politics, health, economy, geography, climate, and calamities.
- Many things can cause social change. I hope that it will not worsen our living.
- Ahm, but I think because of the social change that happened due to COVID-19, it worsens our living, and it also creates cultural change. Just like how we traditionally do “pagmamano,” we cannot do it anymore because of social distancing.
- That’s right. I hope that this pandemic will be over soon.
- However, social change in some aspect help us. For example, social change brought by technology makes our work more accessible and more convenient.
- Social change may benefit us, but sometimes it can worsen our living.
- I hope that all of us can adapt and survive to it. Oh, wait, it’s already 3:00. I need to go. I have dinner with my family. Thank you for your accompany and for sharing your knowledge!
