  • Hi Students, today we're going to learn about the rock cycle!!
  • The rock cycle can start anywhere but today we are going to start from Igneous Rocks. A volcano can erupt and then the lava cools and crystallized which leads to igneous rocks. Igneous rocks then begin to break down and move. This is also called weathering and erosion. This leads into Sediments.
  • Sediments can be found in many places from oceans, caves, mountains, to deserts. Sediments have compaction and cementation occur which forms sedimentary rocks. Heat and pressure later occur which forms metamorphic rocks.
  • Metamorphic rocks are often found in mountain ranges. Metamorphic rocks then melt and forms lava. Lava then forms into igneous rocks. We end up back where we started with the on going rock cycle.
  • Are you guys as shocked as I am that the rock cycle repeats and never ends! Next time you guys go outside and see rocks I want you to think about where it might've been and the type of rock it might've been before its form now.
