I wonder what will learn about today, im really excited about the meiosis theme with my new teacher.
so what's meiosis, well, Meiosis is the formation of egg and sperm cells. In sexually reproducing organisms, body cells are diploid, meaning they contain two sets of chromosomes
In the book it says itIt’s specific purpose is to produce gametes, the sperm and eggs, with half of the genetic complement of the parent cells. so its like how you're born
it divides into two parts Meiosis I separates the pair of homologous chromosomes and reduces the diploid cell to haploid and meiosis II when the sister chromatids within the two daughter cells separate, forming four new haploid gametes.
that's a little bit confusing I don't know what most of those words mean
definitions are in the book look:haploid:having a single set of unpaired chromosomes.diploid: containing two complete sets of chromosomes, one from each parent.homologues: pairing at meiosis and having the same structural features and pattern of genes.chromosome: s a long DNA molecule with part or all of the genetic material of an organism
