- During a banquet for Odysseus, he relates the stories of his journey to King Alcinious .

- During Odysseus´s journey he is detained by the goddess Calypso and Circe on their island for 7 years.
- After leaving Troy, Odysseus explains how himself and his crew land near the city of the Cicones who are known allies of the Trojans, therefore enemies of Odysseus.

- The Ciconian army comes out and kills 72 of Odysseus´s men.
- The Ciconian army drives Odysseus and his men out to sea and delays them for 2 days before they continued with their journey.
