  • Act 4, Scene 1Iago enters.Othello hides.
  • I have told Othello to hide, and I plan to ask Cassio personal questions about Bianca. Othello thinks Cassio has slept with his wife. I can't wait to watch Othello writhe in agony when he misinterprets our conversation and thinks we are talking about his precious Desdemona.
  • Cassio enters.
  • I wish you wouldn't call me that, Iago. I feel horrible at having lost that title and I'd do anything to get it back.
  • How do you do, lieutenant?
  • Just keep asking the fair Desdemona, and I'm sure you'll regain your lost title! If it was up to Bianca, you would already have your old job back. I've never met a woman who loved a man so much.
  • He's already laughing! What a treacherous snake.
  • Haha! The poor girl, she really loves me.
  • Desdemona selling her body? My wife would never! She is loyal and kind, and she's never mistreated anyone. I've never heard her use a harsh word in her entire life!
  • Hahahahaha! That's funny. I'd never marry someone who sells their body to anyone who asks. What a joke!
  • Hear this Cassio, she says you're going to marry her!
  • What is Cassio thinking? And why would Desdemona ever love someone like Cassio over me? I am confident in myself as a person, as well as my abilities. There is nothing Cassio has, that I lack, which would make my beautiful wife choose Cassio over myself. Let me confront him about this
  • Othello enters, comes into view of the two men in the room.
  • Oh Othello! I hope you are doing well, its so good to see you! I was just discussing with the honest Iago about how I plan to redeem myself in order to get my job back. The kind Desdemona said she would speak to you about how I'd never intentionally hurt you.
  • What is he doing here? He's supposed to be hiding!
  • Cassio, I heard what you were saying about my faithful and loyal wife. Selling her body? You promising to marry her? I have to say, I am confused! My wife would never be disloyal, and although I know you and I have our issues, I know you're a good man at heart and you'd never try and sleep with a married woman.
  • Oh Othello! Where is this coming from? I was talking about Bianca, who is head over heels in love with me. I'd never disrespect you or Desdemona! You are much more worthy of Desdemona's love than I am, and everyone else would agree!
  • But Othello, you're black. Why aren't you insecure about yourself? Why aren't you internalizing the racism you face from your fellow Venetians? Oh shoot, I said that out loud, didn't I?
  • Iago, I have faith in myself as a person. I don't feel less of a person because Cassio is white and I am black. Also, love is not about the colour of a person's skin, it's about my personality and our unconditional love for each other. I can't believe you'd stoop so low to ruin one man's relationship and another man's hard-earned career! You should be thrown in jail for this!
  • Curse that damned Othello! Where does he get his confidence from? Now I'm going to sit here rotting away while Desdemona lives happily with someone even I'm better than.
  • Othello and Desdemona happily get married.
