  • Ever wondered why we learn about math? How its used? Ever thought that there is no need for math?
  • Math is EVRYWHERE!
  • We can use this information to set up the following equation: cos(x)=12/14 in this equation, x is the angle that the roof makes with the rest of the garage. After simplifying we get: cos(x) = 0.857142857Then, we isolate x by using cosine inverse. x = arccos(0.857142857)x = ~31 degrees
  • For instance, look at my house, the rooftops make a triangle! This means that we can use Trigonometry to find the side lengths and angle lengths of the triangle
  • If we know that the length of my garage is 24 feet and the side of the roof is 14 feet, we can find the angle that the roof makes with my garage
  • 14 x12
  • We can use trigonometry to calculate measures of a right triangle when given just one side and one angle. For example, the angle that is formed by the roof above the circle is 130 degrees and the roof sits on a 30 foot white concrete foundation. How do we finds the side length of each side of the roof?
  • To do this, we can set up the equation: sin(65) = 15/xwhich simplifies to:15/sin(65) = xAfter using the calculator, we find out that x (side length of the roof) is about 18.14 feet.
  • 130 x 30
  • Trigonometry has a huge influence on architecture. Did you know triangles are considered to be the strongest shape?
