Texte du Storyboard

  • On the Galapagos Islands, he saw many new and undiscovered species.
  • What an interesting finch; I'll make sure to write about him. He seems to enjoy feasting on bugs
  • On a different island, part of the Galapagos Islands, he noticed a finch with a larger beak than the one he'd seen on the other island he was on.
  • How peculiar; this finch's beak shape is different from the other finch's beak shape. It is a lot larger. He seems to enjoy feasting on seeds.
  • I've out together a theory in this notebook of mine, and it makes sense!
  • The finches all came from one common ancestor, but as a result of being separated, they evolved differently. The finch that had access to bugs didn't need overly developed beaks capable of cracking open nuts, so they kept a small beak whilst the birds that had access to mainly nuts and seeds had to over time develop a stronger beak, capable of opening nuts in order to survive.
  • From these observations, Darwin concluded the following:
  • Species we think of as different are a lot more alike than we might've thought. Organisms within a species change over the course of time. Species occasionally have random genetic mutations. Sometimes, these mutations are favorable, meaning they benefit the organism. Those with these traits are more destined to survive. These desirable traits are then passed onto future generations and on.
  • After doing years-worth of more observation. Charles Darwin concluded with the following as well:
  • After years of observation, this is what I have concluded with!
  • 3 years after his voyage aboard the HMS Beagle was over, he published his journal, named, "The Voyage of the Beagle."
  • 3 years later, and I've published my journal!
  •
  • The Voyage of the Beagle
  • He then went on to publish another book 20 years later, this time, about his theories on evolution, natural selection, adaptations, and more! He named it, "On The Origin of Species." Nowadays, Charles Darwin is famously known for his theory of evolution
  • 20 years later, and I've published something, once again!
  •
  • On The Origin of Species
