  • Let’s dive into the Scientific and Industrial Revolution to meet one of our time travelers.
  • Hi! I’m Bea. I’m a time traveler from the modern era who came here to study their time period. I’ll be taking you around and giving you a tour of the Scientific and Industrial Revolution time period. Well then, let’s walk around, shall we?
  • The Scientific Revolution took place in 1543-1687 while the Industrial Revolution took place in the 1760-1840.
  • During the 1700s, women wore mantuas which was a gown; some women, who didn’t have many outfits, wore hand-sewn wool or linen clothing. While men wore coats, waistcoats and breeches, men also wore wigs. Women did not wear wigs but instead they wore artificial hair.
  • Now let's talk about the contributions from this time period.
  • One of which was the fundamental growth in scientific ideas such as biology, mathematics, astronomy, physics, and more. These helped us improve most machines up to the modern-day.
  • Another was that they were able to create the steam engine. This led to the making of locomotive machines, steamships and steamboats, and more.
  • Another was that they were able to switch from manual labor to using machines in the production of goods. This made goods cheaper and more affordable. The textile industry was developed as a result because instead of the strenuous hours of manual labor, a machine could do the same work faster.
  • These amazing feats and contributions make the Scientific and Industrial Revolution seem amazing but it didn't go without societal problems.
  • The gap between the rich and poor has always existed but the Scientific and Industrial Revolution widened this gap because of goods becoming cheaper and mass-produced so the world progressed but leaving some behind. This meant that the rich only got richer and the poor only got poorer. Social mobility was made close to impossible.
