- That is correct. The governing classes were primarily French, which meant they could never adjust to British life and rules. Individuals in lower Canada who spoke out against the British felt compelled to protect their culture and religion.
- The French speaking Canadians also had the fear that the English-speaking immigrants that were brought in by the Britans was a threat towards them
- And because those immigrants carried diseases that could kill people into the country, the French-speaking Canadians felt more threatened, as if they were attempting to destroy the French population and replace it with British colonies.

- The Chateau Clique is a private society of wealthy families that no one is allowed to join. They were a prominent organization#160;that made legislation in lower Canada. In upper Canada, it was the family compact, although in lower Canada, it was the chateau clique.
- Was James Craig the governor of Lower Canada?
- Yes, James Craig openly arrested anyone who opposed the government, and he shut down Le Canadien, a former journalistic newspaper where the chateau clique and reformers fought.
- What were the major concerns of the French people?

- As I previously stated, tensions between the French and the British could have triggered armed rebellions. The main issue was that as the population grew, there would be fewer French speaking minorities, which they did not want.
