Storyboard Description

When two Algebra students go to the fair for the night.

Texte du Storyboard

  • Want to go to the state fair with me, Cris?
  • State FairThis weekend only!Rides: $6Games: $2
  • I'd love to, Blake! Sounds like a good time. I've got $30 I can spend.
  • Is she feeling okay?
  • I wonder how you would write the expression for riding r rides and playing g games?
  • Are you seriously thinking about what we learned in Algebra when we aren't in school anymore?
  • Man, why do I always do this? I really like him...don't mess this up, Blake.
  • Well...ya...It made me think about how we learned the standard form of an equation today. It's the perfect scenario!
  • Challenge Accepted!I like a smart girl.It is $6 times the number of rides plus $2 times the number of games. That would give us an expression of 6r + 2g.
  • Thank goodness!
  • Okay. If we know that the standard form of an equation is represented by Ax + By = C, and we have $30 to spend, what equation would represent our trip to the fair?P.S. Good thing it was free to enter!
  • State Fair EntranceFREE
  • Easy! 6r + 2g = 30$6 per ride plus $2 per game is $30. Do you think the ordered pair (1,12) fits on the line of this equation?
  • Sigh...I'm in love!!
  • Yep! Substitute the value into your equation for the correct variables and you'll see that 6(1) + 2(12) = 6 + 24 = $30. It means we get to go on 1 ride and play 12 games. This sounds like a fantastic night!
  • Ya, why not? I'd rather spend the evening enjoying it with you then working on math homework anyway.
  • I think I found the one for me!
  • I'm not doing my homework tonight. I'm just going to tell Mrs. Nelson about our conversation. Think that will fly?
