- We will move the capital south but you have to agree to the debt plan.
- Hamilton-Strong Government
- We should have a strong central government and promote business and manufacturing.
- Jefferson-Favored Farming
- We should depend on and support farmers.
- Hamilton used moving the capital to get the south to agree to his debt plan.
- National Bank
- We should make National Bank to safely store our money.
- Hamilton wanted a strong government that would balance power between regular and wealthy people. He also wanted to promote manufacturing and businesses.
- Hamilton-Loose Construction
- We should be able to take any reasonable actions.
- Jefferson worried about relying too much on business and manufacturing. He thought farmers were the most independent voters and they didn't depend of other people to make money.
- Jefferson-Strict Construction
- We should only take actions we are allowed to take.
- Hamilton wanted to make a National Bank where the government could safely deposit its money. Furthermore, the bank would also make loans to the government and businesses.
- Hamilton believed in loose construction which means the government can take any actions that the Constitution doesn't specifically ban
- Jefferson believed in strict construction which means that the government can only take actions that the constitution specifically allows the government take.
