- The government of India has taken several steps to protect flora and fauna. Even biosphere reserves are built to protect the plants and animals. The government of India has established 18 biosphere reserves.
- The biosphere reserves often include one or more national parks or wildlife sanctuaries within it. Some important ones are Nanda Devi biosphere reserve in Uttarakhand, Nilgiri biosphere in Tamil Nadu and Sundarbans biosphere reserve in West Bengal
