  • Engaged listening involves paying attention to whoever is speaking, understanding their point of view, and responding to them in a supportive way.
  • I dont like how your always on the game. You're giving it more attention than me and it really bothers me.
  • Some tips to help with engaged listening is to give your full attention to the speaker, showing interest (nodding, smiling), and avoid interrupting.
  • I didn't think that's how you felt. I understand that now, and will try to do my best to fix this.

Using stalling strategies, such as asking to have a question repeated while allowing yourself time to consider the answer, can help you give yourself more time to think. Pausing to gather your thoughts is another suggestion for stress management in the moment. Pausing before speaking can sometimes give the impression that you are more in control than rushing into a response.
