  • Victor takes the creature out by boat to throw it into the water. The wretch saw me destroy the monster on whose future existence he depended for happiness, and with a howl of devilish despair and revenge, withdrew. (pg. 203)
  • Frankenstein discovers that his friend Henry has been murdered. ‘Have my murderous machinations deprived you also, my dearest Henry, of life? Two I have already destroyed; other victims await their destiny; but you, Clerval, my friend, benefactor— (pg 217)
  • On his wedding night, Victor waits for the Monster to come and kill him, but he hears Elizabeth, his new wife scream, and when he enters the room; She was there, lifeless and inanimate, thrown across the bed, her head hanging down, and her pale and distorted features half covered by her hair. (pg 241)
  • Victor is determined to hunt the Monster down to avenge him: Again do I vow vengeance; again do I devote thee, miserable fiend, to torture and death. Never will I give up my search until he or I perish; and then with what ecstasy shall I join my Elizabeth and my departed friends, who even now prepare for me the reward of my tedious toil and horrible pilgrimage! (p. 254)
  • Walton and his crew rescue Victor. After he finishes telling his tale, he dies. Walton finds the Monster standing over Victor, crying. Over him hung a form which I cannot find words to describe—gigantic in stature, yet uncouth and distorted in its proportions. (pg 271)
