- He congratulated her and rewarded her with an energy drink and grapes for her behavior.
- Today is Hailey's first tennis practice of the season.
- Her coach tells her that he will give her a snack and drink every timeshe hits the ball in the court. The snack and drink are the reinforcer and hitting the ball in is the target behavior. This is a type of positive reinforcement
- She hit the ball and sees that the ball lands in the court!
- Her coach tells her that she will have to keep up with this learned behavior even when incentives aren't involved. There will be a schedule of reinforcement. This will be a variable-ratio schedule. For example, one of her favorite snacks will be given to her as a surprise after the behavior of hitting the ball in is preformed a certain amount of times.
