  • Oil spills are more common than you might think, and they happen in many different ways. Tons and tons of oil spills occur in U.S. waters each year. A lot of these spills are small, for example when oil spills while refueling a ship. But these spills can still cause damage. Large oil spills are major, dangerous disasters. These tend to happen when pipelines break, big oil tanker ships sink, or drilling operations go wrong. Oil spills can happen anywhere oil is drilled, transported, or used. When oil spills happen in any body of water that flow into these coastal waters could get the NOAA involved.
  • Where and why do oil spills happen?
  • Oil spills have major environmental and economic effects. Oil spills can also affect human health. When oils rigs or machinery malfunction or break, thousands of tons of oil can seep into the environment. Oil spill effects on environments and habitats can be catastrophic: they can kill plants and animals, pollute air and water
  • Why are oil spills relevant to the US?
  • I predict that the ocean will become even more polluted till it'll get up to the point where all fish are poisonous, beaches closed off, air pollution gets even worse. A number things could happen and most them aren't very good.
  • What is your prediction on the future if this issue continues?
