- Hi! I finally found you!
- Can I be your note taker? I won't charge money!
- Well. sure. Starting tomorrow, I'll also bring you lunch everyday!
- At the beginning of the story, Kohei Sugihara (one of the main characters) was sitting at a table in the college cafeteria with his lunch. Suddenly, Taichi Sugawara (the other main character) ran into his table on accident. They had very different personalities. Taichi was outgoing while Kohei was very quiet.
- Here are your notes! I fell asleep a couple times.
- This has only two words!
- After Taichi apologized, he noticed Kohei's lunch. Kohei gave him his lunch when he saw that Taichi looked hungry and Taichi soon discovered that Kohei cannot hear very well. Kohei told Taichi that although he can't hear others very well, he could hear him just fine. They become friends.
- But it's not your fault you can't hear well!
- Where have you been?!
- My hearing has been getting worse, and so I don't want to go to college anymore.
- Nobody's ever said that to be before..
- After lunch, Taichi saw a poster trying to find a "Note Taker" for student who has hearing disabilities, so they can understand what's going on in the class lectures. He quickly found Kohei (who was reading on a nearby bench) and requested to be his note taker. Kohei started giving Taichi lunch everyday in exchange for taking notes for him because Taichi couldn't afford much.
- Hey!
- You didn't leave!
- I decided to try again and give things another chance.
- Thanks for helping me!
- Over the next few days, Taichi started taking notes for Kohei in class, and though he wasn't the best note taker, Kohei still gave him lunch. Kohei mentioned that Taichi looked really happy when he eats.
- At the beginning of the summer that year, Kohei suddenly stopped texting Taichi. Taichi thought Kohei was mad at him for some reason and finally found him at his house. Kohei told him that his hearing has been getting worse so he's been going to the doctor, and he's planning not to attend college the next year because of that. Then Taichi told him it's not his fault he can't hear well. Kohei was really surprised because nobody ever said that to him.
- At the end of the story, the time takes place the next year at college. Taichi was waiting for the for the campus doors to open, when he saw a familiar figure. Kohei was coming back to college!
