Texte du Storyboard

  • And why would that be, Alexander?
  • We need a central government to function properly moving forward as a nation, John.
  • A central government is essential. It will better protect national interests, promote state cooperation and interaction, and prevent mistakes such as Shays' Rebellion from repeating.
  • On the contrary! It would deprive the states of their own sovereignty, the population is growing and the central government will have no way of knowing what's best for their citizens, AND history would repeat itself--the government will abuse its power and try to force its citizens into tough positions!
  • Alright, maybe we can agree about the Bill of Rights. I think it is an unnecessary addition to the Constitution since it will hasten the process, and the citizens are already ensured their rights with powers not given to the federal government.
  • Again, you are wrong, Hamilton! A Bill of Rights is necessary to safeguard citizens' rights and liberties. Without it, the government could become despotic. Additionally, rights established in writing cannot be revoked.
  • We'll just have to agree to disagree!
  • Nothing will ever be ratified with these two!
