- This is Tangotango and Wainui they are the parents of Matariki

- These are the the stars Waita,Waiti, Waipun-a-rangi, Tupa-a-nuku, Tupa-a-rangi, Ururangi, Hiwaiterangi, Pohutakawa and Matriki

- The red star Puaiga and the blue star Taku rua were complaining about the the Matariki stars Tangtango and Waini over heard them.
- Tangotango and Wainui thought that they should give them a job to do. They thought that Matariki and her sisters should be the sign of the maori new year.
- So Matariki called all her all of her sibling and there parents told the stars where they have to stay to be a sign for the Maori new year.
- This is the position TangoTango and Wainui put them in so the Maori knew when the new year is.
