- Ferdinand Magellan was born into a family of modest Portuguese aristocracy in Sabrosa, Portugal.

- Soon enough Magellan was off, sailing of with a fleet of 5 ships. All in hopes of finding a western route to the Spice Islands. As he left his home, Spain, he headed through a strait in South America.
- From there he and his crew found themselves in the, "Mar Pacifico" also known as the, "peaceful sea". Furthermore, they continued on and were closer than ever to reaching the Spice Islands.
- Despite being closer than ever to reaching their goal, when the Cebu asked for their help in fighting their neighbors Magellan agreed. Confident that their advanced military would be superior they headed into battle. Magellan died in battle. The crew continued on...

- The Strait of Magellan
- Though Magellan died the crew continued the voyage and one of the five ships originally sent out returned after being the first to sail around the world. The strait they sailed through would be later known as The Strait of Magellan.
