- Rama and Sita are exiled from the kingdom of Ayodhya and withdraw into the forest, where Sita is abducted by Ravana, the evil king of Lanka.
- There is a long fight between Rama and Ravana, but with the help of his brother Lakshman, helper monkey Hanuman, and an army of monkeys, Rama eventually defeats Rama and goes to save his wife, Sita.
- Once with his wife, Sita falls to Rama's feet in tears as she has missed his, but Rama says he can no longer live with her as she has lived with Ravana for a year and he claims to worry she is now impure.
- Sita responds by saying she is pure and only thought of him the whole year, but as a result of Rama's portrayed disbelief, she orders Lakshman to build a fire, which she will then jump into and die. This makes Lakshman very mad at Rama, though he does as he is asked and lights a fire.
- Sita walks into the fire, but as she stands there the flames subside, and God Agni stepped out of the space carrying Sita. He tells Rama that Sita is absolutely pure, to which he responds that he always knew Sita was pure, but needed to do this to avoid people saying things about her later on.
- Rama, Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman then return to the kingdom of Ayodhya, where Rama and Sita and crowned King and Queen.
