  • They got back in their time travel machine and arrived in the middle of what was known as a “camp meeting”. 
  • During 1795 to 1835 there was a revival. During this revival meetings were held in small towns and large cities throughout the country and all different smaller cities. But this was only the third phase throughout the whole awakening.
  • Ralphie asks if they can go and see the other phases
  • Of course Ralphie, let me take u back to the first phase
  • Can we go back and see how we got here?
  • They travel back to the first phase during the time period 1795–1810.
  • This phase was connected to frontier camp meetings in Kentucky and Tennessee led by American preachers James McGready, and John McGee
  • As Ralphie was asking Mr. Peabody if they could travel to the next phase to see more so he can finish writing the section in his book. But as they were about to leave they heard the voice of James McGready, calling out to them
  • HEY! WHO ARE YOU? WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE??
  • Lets go see more!
  • Ralphie and Mr. Peabody were caught in one of the meeting rooms by one of the most important revivalist's in the great awakening, James McgreadyHe told the boys that if they didnt tell him who they were and where they came from he would have them sent to a very "unhappy" place.
  • Oh boys, your secret it safe with me, don't worry about it. Go along on your journey!!

  • They arrived at their final stop, the second phase.This phase was during the time period 1810–1825.
  • Now Ralphie this was a more conservative phase, It was centered in New England's Congregational churches, led by theologians Timothy Dwight, Lyman Beecher, Nathaniel W. Taylor, and Asahel Nettleton.Many churches experienced a great increase in membership, particularly among Methodist and Baptist churches
