- The Nuclear Arms Race was very important because it was what ultimately pushed the US and the USSR into the Cold War. The potential of nuclear war was what kept each country from attacking the other. It also created a sense of fear and anxiety for people throughout the world, specifically Russians and Americans. This fueled the actions taken in the Cold War so each country could assert dominance and control without violence.
- The Space Race was very important in the Cold War because it allowed each country to assert dominance and control in non-violent or nuclear ways. It not only increased tensions between nations but it also increased national support/nationalism. It brought the US together against the Soviets and there was a nationwide push for scientific and space development.
- The Fall of the Berlin Wall was important because it was a symbol for the end or the ending of the Cold War. It portrayed a significant advance in the decline of Communism and it reunited the people of Berlin. This was also an important event in establishing the US as a world superpower and defeating communist powers.
