  • Glisser: 1
  • Okay!

  • Hey Claire! Did you understand our lesson in physics earlier?
  • Glisser: 3
  • So the velocity does not change?
  • Glisser: 4
  • When that apple falls, it will undergo free-fall since gravity is pulling it toward the Earth.
  • And all objects at free fall are exhibiting UAM, that's why I wanted to show it to you.
  • Glisser: 5
  • Wow! That's amazing! I did not think it was just this easy to understand.
  • Glisser: 6
  • Are you already going home, Claire?
  • No problem.
  • Glisser: 0
  • Mom! Claire and I are going to hang around here the garden!
  • About the UAM?
  • Yeah! You know, I did not clearly understand it
  • Just trust me!
  • Oh I see, come here an apple is about to fall from a tree.
  • How is an apple going to help me understand it?
  • In a Uniformly Accelerated Motion or UAM, the magnitude of the acceleration is constant.
  • No Kate, it changes, just at a constant rate.
  • Oh I get it, acceleration is the rate of how velocity changes over time. So in a UAM, the acceleration does not change or is constant since the velocity changes at a constant rate?
  • You're right!
  • What about this apple that is about to fall from the tree.
  • Hmm??
  • Why is it exhibiting UAM?
  • It is because all free-falling objects, accelerate towards the Earth at a constant rate of 9.8 m/s^2 neglecting air resistance and regardless of its mass and weight.
  • Is it true for all free-falling objects?
  • Yes.
  • Yeah it really is, sometimes, it's just around us like a ball rolling down a slope that also exhibits UAM.
  • I understand now Claire, thanks for helping me. And I'm sorry for ruining our supposed to be relaxation afternoon.
  • It's okay Kate, I'm happy to help you.
  • Yes Mrs. Garcia, thank you for letting me come over.
  • Mom. I'm just going to see Claire off.
