- This stated that the Northern states would be slaves free and the Southern states would be able to have slaves. Which Missouri was the border to keep the states at even.
- Kansas- Nebraska Act (1854)
- This Compromise had five parts which was California being added as a free state, the New Mexico and Texas border dispute was settled, the Fugitive slave trade act was passed, in Washignton D.C. slave trade ended, and the Mexican Cession would decide the issue on slavery popular sovereignty.
- Bleeding Kansas (1854)
- This novel increased the different opinions on slavery between the south and the north. This novel was intended to express the cruel and harshness of slavery.
- Election of Abraham Lincoln (1860)
- Nebraska and Kansas became states. These territories gave people the people the right to be a free or slave state. Which caused problems between the North and South.
- This was violent fights between pro-slavery and anti-slavery in Kansas. Which this started because of the decision on whether Kansas should be a free state or slave state.
- Abraham wanted to stop the expansion of slavery. The South wasn’t happy about this and felt like they didn’t have a voice. 11 states seceded from this union.
